Lámh is an important part of how we support communication across our school. Lámh is a manual or “key word” signing system used by children and adults with intellectual disabilities and communication needs in Ireland. It is designed to support understanding and expression by pairing spoken words with key signs, helping students communicate in a clear, accessible and meaningful way
To promote a consistent and inclusive signing environment across our school community, we share a “Lámh Sign of the Week.”
- The sign of the week is introduced to students and staff in school.
- We also share the sign on our school Instagram account and will upload here on our website, so families can learn, practise, and use the signs at home.
- This helps create continuity for students, allowing communication to be reinforced across settings.
