Celebrating Our First Junior Cycle Graduation

We were delighted to celebrate a very special milestone in our school this week. Our first ever Junior Cycle Graduation. It was a proud and memorable occasion for our students, their families and our staff.

Parents and families joined us for a showcase of the students’ work, where they had the opportunity to see the learning and progress their children have made over the past three years. The displays highlighted achievements across the Priority Learning Units, including literacy, communication and numeracy, the arts, physical education, and participating in the community. The work on display demonstrated learning in ways that a formal written examination simply cannot capture.

Students also shared work from their short courses, including Around the World in 80 Days and Looking Good, Feeling Great. Through these courses, they developed important functional and life skills, building confidence, independence and practical knowledge for everyday life.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of each student’s Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA), recognising their individual progress, participation and achievements throughout their Junior Cycle journey.

We are incredibly proud of each of our students and all that they have accomplished. It was wonderful to celebrate their hard work with their families and to mark this important step in their education.

As they now begin Senior Cycle, we look forward to supporting them as they continue their learning and personal development. Both Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle are new curricula being implemented in our school, and they provide meaningful opportunities for our students to learn, grow and showcase their achievements.

Congratulations to all of our graduates. We are so proud of you and excited to see what the future holds.

Valentine’s Day came to St. Mary’s with some extra special deliveries. Some of the classes even made some Valentine’s treats.

Gerry Duffy and the talented team at Slane Men’s Shed have brought festive cheer to our school by crafting beautifully detailed wooden Christmas decorations for every student. Their generosity and craftmanship are so appreciated. –
